Mission Statement

I am committed to teaching children through guided instruction, discovery, and exploration. I strongly believe that children learn through self-discovery and play; therefore, I incorporate fun into each learning experience.

Miss Maggie's Preschool provides a small classroom environment with one on one instruction. I want to create a classroom environment that is comfortable for all students and parents. I want parents to be at ease while their child is at preschool and strive to provide detailed information about classroom activities, goals, and progress.

Curriculum

Each class offers age appropriate and individualized goals for each student. The curriculum used at Miss Maggie’s Preschool draws from a variety of sources; however, I do follow the prekindergarten guidelines set up by the Indiana Department of Education.

Our class will have students ranging in ages from 3 to 5. Having this age span is beneficial to the preschoolers as it allows them to develop greater social skills and cooperation, along with giving the older students an opportunity to help mentor a younger peer when they are struggling. Each student will have time to work one on one work with Miss Maggie at their level to ensure everyone is getting the most out of their preschool experience. All students will be taught beginning phonics, writing skills, music, art, beginning math and science, as well as social and emotional development. We will also have a variety of organized sensory development activities and dramatic play centers. Little Learners (ages 3-4) will have an increased focus on developing their social skills, while Pre-K Kiddos (ages 4-5) will have an increased focus on skills to prepare them for Kindergarten, socially and academically. I strive to help my students be as prepared as possible for Kindergarten.
